Kirinyaga University is very active in the Sports and Games arena. This is evident in many trophies won in the Kenya Universities Sports Association organized by Sports and Games over the years.
Kirinyaga University students participates in a variety of Sports disciplines, out-door sports and in-door sports.
KyU teams participates in the organized sports competition by Kenya University Sports Association at the national level and Kenya University Association-Central Conference at the region level. In the academic year 2017/2018, KyU teams has done excellently in their sporting activities. Six in-door games qualified for the National games, the teams include; swimming men and women, Karate men, badminton men and women and table tennis men. While two (2) out-door games teams qualified, the teams include handball men and women. This performance has been the best since the inception of this great University.
